Whimsical Wonders

June 26-30

This week, enter the magical realm of the faeries, sprites and gnomes who care for our forest and garden.  We’ll flutter through the forest with hand-made faery wings, paint wooden gnomes, felt a pair of elven shoes, and build homes for our woodland friends while learning and exploring outdoors.

Fantastic  Fibers

July 10-14

Fibers are used in many everyday objects from clothing to climbing ropes, and shoelaces to seat belts. This week we will explore natural fibers, using them to create a variety of items. After gathering fibers from the forest and farm, processing with natural dyes, we will weave, felt, knit, and knot unique artwork, practical pieces, and simple toys. We will discuss the origin and uses of a wide variety of natural fibers.

Puddle Jumpers

June 26-30

This week we will be exploring our fields, forests, farm, pond, and stream. We will dip our nets into the pond and stream to discover who lives there, hike through the forest, build wilderness shelters, play games, and make new friends!

Fabulous Forts

July 10-14

Do you like to build forts and shelters?  So do we!  As wilderness architects we will use our imagination and ingenuity to design and build cozy hidey-holes using the raw materials that nature provides. Join us for a week of creating stick forts, teepees, and debris shelters in our wilderness adventure playground!

Wilderness Warriors 

July 17-21

Moving silently through the forest, Wilderness Warriors step swiftly through the trees. They are searching for a good camp for their clan. Traveling quickly and lightly, they must remain unseen during their quest. There are rumors of another clan moving through the forest. Are they friend or foe?  Discover what lies ahead as our band of Wilderness Warriors learn the ancient arts of stealth and camouflage as we listen to the telling songs of the birds, learn to track wildlife and other clans, and identify wild edible and medicinal plants.

Maker's Workshop

July 24-28

Explore the world of making as we sharpen our knife skills and perfect the art of using hand tools. From designing and creating our own toys, making some of the classics like Jacob's Ladders, to learning to make cord from plants harvested here on the farm, this week will be full of creating and making!

Seed to Table - Northern Indian Cuisine    July 24-28

HAPPINESS is HOMEMADE FOOD!!!  Our cooking camps empower kids with culinary skills and knowledge so that they can make healthy and nourishing choices in an atmosphere of fun and cooperation. All dishes are vegetarian. Please let us know if there are any dietary restrictions. 

This week we will explore the exciting flavors of Northern India while we learn to cook dishes are rooted in India's age-old vegetarian culinary traditions and adapted to our outdoor kitchen. Naan, Chappati, Paratha, Mixed Vegetable Pulau, Vegetable Curries (Paneer), pickles and Badam Barfi for dessert are all on the menu this week.  On Friday, the last day of class, we will put it all together and invite our families to an end-of-camp feast! (event begins at 2 pm)

Games Galore!

July 31-August 4

Red rover, red rover send your kids right over! Join us for a week full of playing some of the classics, like Capture the Flag with a dozen variations, and creating games of our own. All of this mixed in with plenty of stealth and survival challenges will be sure to build leadership and cooperation skills while having a blast and making new friends.

Seed to Table - Oaxacan Traditions  August 7-11

This week is all about the joy of farm fresh food, kitchen crafts, and cultural traditions. Each day we will explore a traditional dish from Oaxaca, Mexico. We’ll grind the masa for our corn tortillas using the traditional metate a Mano, make queso fresco, pick tomatoes and herbs from the garden and more! On the menu this week is frijol ombligo, fresh corn tortillas, fresh whole wheat tortillas, vegetarian tamales with nopales, and ensalada de blanca, homemade queso fresco, salsas fresca champurrado de trigo, aqua fresca. On Friday, the last day of class, we will put it all together and invite our families to an end-of-camp fiesta! (event begins at 2 pm)

Garden Art

August 21-25

Inspire your artistic imagination with the natural beauty of Swallowtail Farm. We’ll explore different techniques using traditional art supplies, as well as learn how to create art from natural materials found right here on the farm.  All this with plenty of time for playing games, daydreaming, and making delicious farm fresh snacks to fuel our creativity!​

Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math

What would you make if you had a factory at home? Manufacturing used to be a huge process that required a warehouse and a factory, but with cutting edge machines, DIY is easy! In this camp you will design, prototype, and build a variety of products. Exercise your creativity as you explore a wide range of tools and techniques including the 3D printer, CNC router, computer-aided design (CAD), and electronic circuit design.

Can You Canoe? 

August 14-18

This exciting adventure will give participants an opportunity to feel into the rhythm of the river and discover the gifts nature has to offer.   The first day of camp will be spent at Hagg lake reviewing basic paddling skills, learning advanced techniques, getting to know each other, planning meals for the trip, and checking equipment. Participants will also learn important camp management skills while helping with meal prep, cooking, and cleaning. There will also be a sailing canoe for those adventurous souls that want to give it a go! On Tuesday, we will depart for a four day,  three night trip on the Willamette River.
